Physical DescriptionA coat made of brown, white, and red fur has a heavy black collar and cuffs decorated with brown leather. The interior is lined with black quilted fabric.Historical NoteThis wolf skin fur coat belonged to President Gerald R. Ford. His friend Jack Kim, an Alaskan furrier, gifted Ford a wolf skin fur coat on November 17, 1974 during a stop in Anchorage, Alaska on his way to Japan and Vladivostok, USSR. Before leaving Vladivostok on November 24, Ford gave the coat to the Soviet General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev. Jack Kim gave Ford this coat as a replacement.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. President Ford donated it to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum in 1999.
