From under the drawers, a panel extends upwards.Historical NoteIn 1976, vice president of the Franklin Mint Corporation, Francis J. Fitzpatrick Jr., presented this item to Presidential staff member Mit Mitler on the west lawn of the White House; Mitler accepted the gift on the President's behalf.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
