Physical DescriptionA nickel-plated pistol features ornate gold grips with raised motifs; there is an eagle with a snake in its beak towards the top of the grip. Below it, enclosed in a circle, there is a small face bordered by geometric shapes. Raised curved shapes create a border along the edges of the grip.
Historical NoteSalvador Hirales Barrera, Police Director of Baja California, Mexico, gifted this pistol to President Ford's son, Jack. Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to Jack Ford during the Ford Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
