Physical Description(a-ae) A display case is made up of five panes of glass separated by a wooden floral border. The interior is lined with red fabric and features 23 silver miniature instruments including drums, gongs, xylophones, and cymbals.Historical NoteIndonesian Vice President Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX gifted this object to President Gerald R. Ford. The miniature instruments represent a Gamelan orchestra, a traditional Indonesian musical ensemble.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
