Physical Description(a) A round textured silver compact features a round emblem in the center of the lid.(b) A square black presentation box is lined with white fabric on the interior of the lid, and the bottom portion is cushioned with black fabric.
Historical NoteQueen Elizabeth II presented this makeup compact to First Daughter Susan Ford on July 7, 1976. She also presented a soup tureen to President Ford (1981.176), a brooch to First Lady Betty Ford (1983.29a-c), and a set of cufflinks to Jack Ford (1988.971 a-c).Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to First Daughter Susan Ford during the Ford Administration. It was presented to him and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
