Historical NoteThe White House Gift Unit received these tiles from Houari Boumédiène, Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, on April 12, 1974. During Houari Boumédiène's trip to the United States to attend the United National General Assembly, he also met with President Richard Nixon and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to discuss restoring full diplomatic relations with the U.S.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received and maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
